The Sweetest Backyard Wedding || Mara + Alex - Ames, Iowa

Wow, where do I even begin here? Let me just start this off by saying, this wedding was an absolute dream. Covid really made everyone pivot and figure out plans B, C, and DEFG, and these two were some of my first clients in the midst of it all. Their plan for a big wedding quickly diminished but was replaced by the sweetest backyard wedding at their family home in Ames, Iowa.

Their family really stepped up for them on this day and provided an unforgettable wedding, not only for them but for myself as well. From the beautiful glassware from mom’s cabinet, to the amazing feast she prepared for all of the wedding guests, and all of the small moments in between, this wedding coverage was truly one of my favorite to date.

We started at a local hotel for getting ready photos and then moved to a park for most of the other posed photos. The rest of the day took place at this amazing backyard wedding haven, and the photos captured the essence beautifully.

There was just something so special about celebrating this love at such an unknown time with some guests in attendance and others over zoom, and it still makes me emotional to see how much my clients have fought through to ultimately celebrate the greatest win of all: LOVE. The day radiated so much light, love, and happiness and it was clear everyone was there to uplift these two in the best way.

Not only was the day so beautiful and great, their families showered me in love and made sure I didn’t go home without a plate for the road. This day truly changed me and that’s an understatement.
